Walk for Home

December 2022

This winter join walkers around the country on the journey to end homelessness

Walk for Home is the winter walking event that tackles homelessness.

Every four minutes another household in England is made homeless.

This December, join walkers across the country taking steps to raise money and help give families a warm and safe place to call home.

Get your friends and family together, pick a distance and route to suit you and and get out there for a fun day out with a difference.

How to Walk for Home

1. Pick a date and route

You can walk any time in December. Walk as far as you like, wherever you like.

2. Invite your walkers

Walk with friends, family, colleagues or even just the dog.

3. Get fundraising

We’ve got resources and tips to help make your fundraising easy.

4. Walk for Home

Get walking and have fun!

We have made the difficult decision to cancel this year's Walk for Home events in Bristol on 4 December and London on 8 December. If you have any questions please contact walkforhome@shelter.org.uk.

"Such a lovely walk and we had a great time. We are so proud of ourselves that we managed to raise £629 for Shelter" - Natasha and Lisa, 2020

How your walk helps end homelessness

We’re fighting for a future where everyone has a safe home.

Last year we advised 17,281 households through our emergency helpline. But many more people don’t know where to turn for help. People living in unsafe or unfit housing. People with no permanent place to call home.

Your walk could provide much-needed support and advice to those who need it most.
